What a woman needs to know about overdiagnosis to decide about breast cancer screening

In their modelling study, Ding and colleagues present estimates of overdiagnosis caused by a breast cancer screening program and how these are influenced by a woman’s age and history of screening [1]. The study does not close the never-ending controversy about the magnitude of overdiagnosis in breast cancer screening [2,3]. Nevertheless, the exercise proposed by the authors is particularly interesting because it gives objective information useful to decide about undergoing screening or not and, most of all, which could be the worst approach to screening.
